Freight and Logistics at Felderer: Trends 2018
Supplying construction sites with materials, including ventilation components of course, has always been a challenge. In recent years, however, the demands on logistics have increased significantly.
From calendar week to day
Whereas in earlier decades delivery times of 4-6 weeks for ventilation components were not uncommon, delivery dates were often given by the manufacturers in KW (calendar weeks). And nobody bothered. Only the creation of efficient warehouses for ventilation components – combined with regional production possibilities – shortened delivery times and the short-term, day-accurate delivery to construction sites became conceivable and feasible. Felderer was one of the first companies in the Munich area to promise and enable delivery of stock goods within 60 minutes. That was Felderer Logistics in 1990!
From day to time
In recent years, the requirements have continued to increase and there are various reasons for this. The increasing private use of Internet trading has also had a significant impact on expectations in the business sector. The beef steak or the deodorant roller can now be delivered to the front door within an hour if desired. Why should this not also apply to fire dampers, fans and spiral ducts? Purchase quantities per order are reduced, deadline requests are short-term and on time and the delivery system must be nationwide.
The completely networked supply chain
Felderer AG has always placed customer requirements at the centre of its considerations. How can we meet and exceed our customers’ deadlines? How can we make the Ordering process at Felderer even more pleasant and reliable? To achieve this, we network and digitize the supply chain between your construction site, our logistics centers, our production sites and our suppliers at home and abroad. A little more every day.
We actively meet the requirements of modern and digital craft business.
The transport industry as bottleneck
The trend is clear: logistics is the basis for the supply of goods, even on construction sites. Due to the positive economic development in Germany, but increasingly also throughout Europe, the capacities of the transport industry will temporarily become scarce in 2018. This trend is reinforced by a considerable driver shortage in the transport industry as well as new toll regulations for federal highways and a new driving time regulation since May 2017.
At Felderer, we handle almost all deliveries with our fleet of vehicles that are not affected by this trend from today’s perspective. Nevertheless, we cannot rule out price increases in the logistics sector for 2018.
