Industrial Hoses – Products and Applications
With our partner Norres Schlauchtechnik GmbH we have been working very successfully for some time in the field of technical hoses and industrial hoses. Norres is one of the innovators and market leaders in the industry and is represented worldwide. The foundation stone for today’s company was laid in 1889 by the former miner Wilhelm Norres with the invention of a detonator. 1960 saw the market launch of the cable protection conduit systems and the invention of the WELLFLEX construction. This range of products developed so successfully that from 1973 the company concentrated completely on the development, production and sale of technical hoses. Today, the company’s product range includes hoses and hose systems made of a wide variety of materials and for many different applications.
Hose types and applications
From the multitude of materials a multitude of possible applications can be derived. They range from the extraction and transport of bulk materials in the food and pharmaceutical industries, to extraction systems on machines used in wood and plastics processing, hoses on municipal and agricultural vehicles, cable protection systems and special solutions for waste water treatment.
Here is a brief overview of some brands and applications:
The AIRDUC profile hoses are spirally welded and have a cast-in spring steel wire, which circulates the hose on the outside as a cast-in spiral. This makes them axially very stiff and yet flexible. The inner wall is very smooth. This ensures low pressure loss, prevents the settling of transported goods and ensures their gentle transport. The steel wire armouring does not become soft when heated, as is the case with all-plastic hoses. If required, the reinforcement can be earthed to dissipate electrical charge. AIRDUC hoses are gas- and liquid-tight and lighter than comparable rubber hoses. Depending on the design, they are used as medium to superheavy pressure and suction hoses in various industrial sectors, including the pharmaceutical and food industries. The hose materials used are PUR, PVC, PE and TPE.
The construction is similar to AIRDUC hoses. However, the spring spiral is cast directly into the wall. The BARDUC hoses are therefore smooth not only on the inside but also on the outside. Otherwise, the properties are similar to those of AIRDUC hoses. Due to the external smoothness, they are very easy to clean and are therefore very suitable for applications with increased hygienic requirements such as in the pharmaceutical and food industries. PUR and PVC are used as hose material.
These are small diameter industrial hoses that are axially extruded and therefore have no seams or welds. Since they do not have reinforcement, they are very flexible. They are used as pressure hoses for hydraulic controls on industrial robots and other systems. But they are also used for transporting liquids in the food and pharmaceutical industries. NORFLEX hoses are made of PUR, PVC, TPE or silicone.
The NORPLAST construction is similar to AIRDUC hoses. However, there is no spring steel spiral, but a hard plastic spiral poured into the wall. This makes NORPLAST hoses lighter, but also less flexible than the AIRDUC construction. The inner wall is very smooth. In the antistatic version, a strand is implemented parallel to the hard plastic coil to dissipate electrostatic charges. These hoses are used as light to superheavy suction, pressure and protective hoses. Superelastic versions remain elastic down to a temperature of -25 °C. PUR and PVC are used as hose materials.
The brand name PROTAPE refers to foil tubes with spring steel wire embedded in the wall. They are spirally welded from strip material. This makes them extremely flexible, compressible and very light. The patented welding process guarantees a constant quality of the gas- and liquid-tight material connection. The steel wire can be used to dissipate electrostatic charge by grounding. In the PROTAPE MEMORY version, the special external reinforcement ensures that the hoses are tread-proof and can be driven over. The PROTAPE hoses serve as suction, pressure and multi-purpose hoses as well as ventilation and exhaust gas hoses. PUR, PVC, PE and TPE are used as hose materials.
These are PROTAPE hoses optimized for use in the wood industry for extraction of wood chips and dust. In addition, they can also be used in other industrial extraction, dedusting and filter systems as well as for oil mist extraction. Due to the special conditions prevailing in these applications, only the specially developed material Pre-PUR is used as hose material.
As can be seen, the Norres range of technical and industrial hoses is extremely diverse. The individual brand names usually conceal a large number of different designs which are designed for specific applications and media to be transported. If you are not familiar with the range, it will be difficult to find the right hose for your specific application without advice. In order to make it easier for our customers to make their choice, we have integrated a special service on our website.
The Felderer Industrial Hose Configurator
With our configurator for the range of technical hoses or industrial hoses you have a very simple possibility to display the hose type(s) that best fit your application by entering a few data. The input field is divided into only 5 areas:
- What media should be promoted?
- Desired resistance of the hose
- Required nominal diameter
- Additional required properties
- Temperature range
We hope that this configurator will make it much easier for you to select the technical hose you need. If this service does not fully meet your expectations, we are always open to your suggestions. And if you have any further questions about industrial hoses, please do not hesitate to contact us.
