VENTAFLEX – Highly efficient air duct with integrated isolation
Ventaflex GmbH & Co KG has been active as a supplier to the ventilation and air-conditioning industry for more than 30 years. The speciality of the enterprise are pipes and formed parts for the structure of complex air duct systems in industrial plants and large buildings. However, the products differ significantly from those of other manufacturers in this segment.
Construction and advantages
The Ventaflex pipes and fittings have a rigid PUR foam core with excellent insulating properties. Inside and outside the rigid foam is provided with a very smooth GFK protective layer. This construction has a number of advantages. Compared to a double-skinned spiral duct of the same size with internal thermal insulation, this results in a weight saving of around 70%. This reduces the installation effort, because fewer workers and no heavy equipment are required for installation. In addition, there is the VENTASNAP clamp system, which enables quick installation without time-consuming gluing work when installed above ground.
The above-average high insulation value of the PUR core ensures greatly reduced heat losses during operation of the system. In comparison with a glass-fibre-insulated spiral duct, a cost saving of up to 40% was achieved. The very smooth inner surface of the tubes also contributes to cost savings, as friction losses and turbulence are considerably reduced. In addition, the very high tightness of the pipe systems made of Ventaflex products, which is up to 99% better than the tightness classes specify, also greatly reduces energy losses.
The GRP surfaces applied inside and outside ensure high resistance to chemicals as well as biological and weathering influences. In addition, the outer surface is protected against UV light by applying a gelcoat layer. In addition to the outer GRP surface in light grey or brown, the pipes and fittings can also be coated with aluminium or galvanised sheet metal. Stainless steel sheathing is also possible.
The product range
round pipes and fittings are offered in the usual dimensions from DN 200 to DN 1,250. The oval range is particularly suitable for larger air volumes. This allows a higher airflow capacity on a smaller area. Oval ducts are much more flow efficient than the usual square ducts. Here the range extends from series 500 to 1,250.
Despite the aforementioned advantages of oval duct cross-sections, the company now also offers rectangular duct segments under the VENTASQUARE brand. The range includes a large number of moulded parts in each series, including blow-out bends and reducers. With the appropriate transition components, the Ventaflex pipes can be connected to products from other manufacturers. For special requirements that cannot be covered by the standard range, Ventaflex also develops customer-specific solutions.
Ventaflex ventilation ducts can be used inside and outside buildings without any problems. This applies to comfort climate applications as well as under demanding conditions such as in industrial or stable systems. The resistance to chemical and weather influences allows the use even where other systems have to fit. Due to these properties, underground installation is also possible without further insulation or protective measures.
In the food industry and other areas with high hygiene requirements, the positive properties of the products are particularly effective. Due to the smooth surfaces, dirt and bacteria have no possibility to settle inside and outside the pipeline. At the same time, this also ensures easy cleaning, especially as the pipes are insensitive to cleaning agents. The suitability of Ventaflex products for such sensitive areas has been confirmed by the Berlin Institute for Air Hygiene through appropriate certifications.
Ventaflex products have a number of advantages for plant constructors and operators. You save costs in purchasing and assembly. Compared to other solutions, they ensure greater efficiency in plant operation by reducing energy losses. And they can also be used in areas with high requirements where other products are not suitable or not suitable at all.
