Nicotra Gebhardt Ventilatoren GmbH – A company portrait
The Nicotra Gebhardt Group was founded in 2005 as a merger of the Italian Nicotra and the German Gebhardt Ventilatoren GmbH. Both companies had already been active in fan construction since the second half of the 1950s and were able to combine their strengths and extensive experience through the merger. In spring 2018 the company was taken over by the US group Regal Beloit Corporation.
Nicotra began producing centrifugal fans in the early 1960s. The products met with strong demand from the market. Their high quality and strict orientation towards the technical requirements of the customers quickly made the company the market leader in its sector in Italy.
Gebhardt Ventilatoren GmbH started its production with a new concept for the time – centrifugal fans directly driven by a newly developed external motor. This concept of a compact fan was quickly accepted by the market and formed the cornerstone for the further successful development of the young company.
The company currently
Today, the group employs well over 1000 people in 6 production facilities (Italy, Germany, India, China, Malaysia and Thailand). The sales organisation covers more than 30 countries in Europe, the Middle East, Africa, Asia, Australia and the USA. The manufacturing process in all production facilities is based on a concept of flexible industrial automation. This enables Nicotra Gebhardt to offer standard fans produced in series as well as customer-specific special products. The group is ISO 9001 certified. Both research and development centers are accredited by the manufacturer-independent AMCA (Air Movement and Control Association International, Inc.) as measurement and testing centers for ventilation performance.
In product development, the Group not only focuses on effective fan designs such as AT, RZR, RDH and RLM, which are the benchmark by which other products must be measured due to their outstanding aerodynamic performance, but also on the design and manufacture of fans that meet the highest standards of performance. At the same time, the focus is on further developing the motor technology for the fan drives. At present, EC motors with permanent magnets represent the cutting edge of drive technology for directly driven fans. These drives, together with smart controls, are now available for the wide product range of different centrifugal fans. This gives customers unlimited freedom of choice in fan design without compromising energy efficiency. The new generation of fan modules achieves efficiencies up to efficiency class IE5 and thus already meets future requirements today.
The product range
The Nicotra Gebhardt Group has a very broad portfolio of state-of-the-art fans for various applications. The following 5 application areas are covered:
1. fans for ventilation and air-conditioning
From a technical point of view, this product range is again divided into the following subgroups:
- free-running centrifugal fans with direct drive
- encapsulated centrifugal fans with direct drive
- enclosed centrifugal fans with belt drive
- hybrid centrifugal fans with direct drive
Each subgroup contains several series with different performance data. This means that the optimum fan is available for almost every requirement.
2. roof fans
The fan modules on building roofs not only have to work efficiently, they also have to withstand the effects of the weather over a long period of time. The 5 series offered here are perfectly adapted to these requirements.
Increased demands are also placed on these products. On the one hand, high conveying capacities are required so that the affected part of the building can be extracted within a short period of time. On the other hand, in case of smoke extraction, the modules are exposed to higher temperatures and possibly corrosive components of the flue gases. The 5 series of smoke extraction fans are optimally designed for these requirements and for various locations (e.g. underground car parks, roofs, ducts, facades).
4. clean room technology
The company has developed Filter Fan Units for the demand-oriented ventilation of clean rooms, which ensure uniform and draught-free ventilation at low costs. For central control, these units can be networked in several ways.
Numerous customers from research, the chemical, pharmaceutical, electronic and semiconductor industries around the world place their trust in the company’s expertise.
5. industrial and process air fans
Especially for this sector the group of companies offers Radial fans with direct or belt drive in 5 series and in different performance classes.
